Monday April 4, the Jimmy Clyde Sportsplex was running at nearly full capacity as Little League and High School was getting it on! Nearly every bleacher on every field was full of fans and parents of all these teams, and it was very cool to be there among them.
Magee Lady Trojans vs. Seminary Lady Bulldogs (Softball)
The Magee Lady Trojans faced off against the Seminary Lady Bulldogs in a thrilling softball showdown Monday night. All girls played very well on both teams and showed that their teams know what softball was. Magee was down 2-0 as they entered bottom of the 2nd, but #5 Alyssa Payne knocked it out of the park to put Magee’s first point on the board#27 Maci Parker Pitching
In the 5th inning, Seminary seemed to be climbing back up the rope, as the score was 11-5 Magee, but tragedy struck one of their players. #6 Jaylah Thompson was running home but turned back to go to third base and tripped and fell. Later she was seen walking off the field and we all could tell something was not right. I talked to Seminary’s Coach Pendergrass and was told Ms. Thompson broke her hand very badly and was transported to a hospital to get it checked out. Please keep Jaylah and the Lady Dawgs in y’all’s prayers. In all of this, Magee pulled it off to beat Seminary 14-6 in the 7th inning, advancing to a 8-4 record. Come out and support the Lady Trojans Friday night as they face off against the Pearl Pirates. Junior Varsity plays at 5, Varsity at 6. Lady Trojans and Lady Dawgs meeting after the game
Also, if you know a child or anyone who has a child that plays on the Little League teams, come out and support them. We always love to see the sportsplex full like it was Monday, and we love to see people having fun like that.
Thank you to everyone who helped out Monday night and we also wish the Lady Trojans good luck Friday night!
