(5/14/1930 – 12/30/2023)

            Hewie Elvin Henderson, 93 of Taylorsville, MS passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023 at his residence in Taylorsville, MS. He was born Wednesday, May 14, 1930 in Smith County, Mississippi.

            Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 12:30pm until 2:00pm at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 113 Front Street, Taylorsville, Mississippi, with Funeral services beginning at 2:00pm. Burial will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Raleigh, Mississippi. Bro. Archie Taflinger will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements. 601-785-6564

            He was preceded in death by his son, Julian Henderson; father, Hughie Henderson; mother, Myrtle Phillips Henderson; granddaughter, Jonalyn Scott; brother, James Henderson; sisters, Ruby Schillinger and Mary McCool.

            Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mary Swope Henderson; son, David Henderson; daughters, Theeta Massey (Carl), Connie Henderson, and Carmyn Lancaster (Ben); step-sons, Ronnie Clayton (Angela) and Mike Clayton (Pam); sister, Betty Thornton (Joe); and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

            Pallbearers will be Damion Hegwood, Ian Hall, Jason Clayton, Zane Clayton, Barry McCool, and Pete Bruce.

            Special music will be performed by Ian Hall, T`mara Hall, Meagan Henderson, Emma Duckworth, Jeremy Duckworth, and Christopher Walters.
