Applauds Fitch’s Tireless Advocacy, Sound Qualifications, Conservative Credentials
 
Madison, MS – Mississippi State Treasurer Lynn Fitch today announced the endorsement of former Mississippi Republican Party Chairman and Special JudgeJamesHerring for reelection as State Treasurer. Herring cited Fitch’s strong track record and active role within the community for his endorsement:

I have known our Treasurer Lynn Fitch and worked with her in building our Republican Party for several years now. I have seen her play an active role in the local community as well as across our state, serving organizations like the Red Cross, the Palmer Home, and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Lynn Fitch has also served in multiple leadership positions in state government, in addition to serving as Treasurer. She has worked with other state leaders on a number of boards and commissions, and she has promoted Mississippi’s positive progress everywhere, from the bond rating agencies to the Republican National Committee Platform Committee. Lynn Fitch has been a tireless advocate for our state, and she has sound qualifications and conservative credentials. Therefore, I see no good reason why she should not be given a second term as State Treasurer.

We need to re-elect Lynn Fitch as our State Treasurer, and I ask you to join me in supporting her campaign.

After being appointed by Governor Kirk Fordice to the Mississippi State Personnel Board in 1996, Governor Fordice then appointed Mr. Herring to the Mississippi Court of Appeals in 1997. He has also served as a Special Judge on the Mississippi Supreme Court by appointment of Governor Haley Barbour.

Mr. Herring currently serves as senior partner of Herring, Long and Crews, P.C., of Canton, Mississippi. He served as Chairman of the Mississippi Republican Party for seven years, and through an appointment by the Chairman of the RNC, he served as “Chairman of the Chairmen” of all State Republican Parties throughout the country. Mr. Herring was later appointed by President George W. Bush to the Board of Trustees of the Christopher Columbus Fellowship Foundation for a term of six years and served as Vice Chairman of the Foundation Board. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Center for Public Policy and served as transition chairman for Mississippi’s Governor Phil Bryant at the beginning of his administration in 2012.

“Judge Herring has devoted his life to serving our state with distinction, and I appreciate his support beyond words,” stated Fitch. “We’ve worked together promoting our great state for many years, and I’m eager to keep working to save taxpayers’ money, strengthen the fiscal health of our state, and improve financial literacy with our children.”
