The Scriptural passage chosen for today is found in Isaiah 44:22: “I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.” Isaiah, the prophet of old, received direct messages from God to give to God’s chosen people, the people of Israel. Time and again, the Israelites sinned against God, but He wanted them to know that He’d never forsake them and would forgive them of their sins if they would but repent, turn from their wicked ways, and trust Him. We, too, have the same assurance that God will redeem us if we repent of our sins and accept Him as our Lord and Savior. I love the lyrics to the old hymn “Jesus, I Come”: “Out of my bondage, sorrow and night, Jesus, I come; Jesus, I come. Into Thy freedom, gladness, and light, Jesus, I come to Thee.” If you’re in darkness, take hold of the Light, because the light of the world is Jesus! Amen!

James Davis
