Today is the last day of 2022 bringing memories of good and bad happenings.

I always enjoy articles that recap the year.I am amazed at what I forget!

Anyone is invited to submit some of their 2022 memories.

MageeNews.com Issues Warning About Suspicious Emails

June 19, 2026

I think one of the big stories of 2022 is the numerous water leaks!  Everyday seems to bring a leak to our aging infrastructure.

What is interesting to me, when we look at the stats on MageeNews.com the number one or two story always seems to be weather.  (Patrice is writing an article about the top stories.)

The zoning debate concerning a “half-way” house located in a residential area of Magee is still raging.

Everyone seemed to have an opinion on the consolidation of Magee and Mendenhall High Schools.  Personally, I think what happens in 2023 will be quite interesting.  Do you think the consolidation will ever happen???

Matt Harrison was named Magee FD Fireman of the Year

Threat on Magee High School shook everyone.  (Not in our city)!

A summer of burn bands

No tax increase for the city

The situation on highway 49.  From taking down light poles to closing crossings, 2022 left 49 in a mess.  Who knows when this situation will be cleared.

Mayor Dale Berry kept Magee in the spotlight and not always for a good reason.

The debacle with the police department was an embarrassment to our police department and the City of Magee. Chris Jones, Allen Martin and finally Shane Little severed as police chiefs during 2022.

A city of pot holes!  Will we ever have “smooth” streets?

Marc McMillian was appointed as the City of Magee Attorney.

Tim Gray was elected to fill Tommy Joe Harvey’s position as Chancery Clerk

City approves the sell of medical marijuana .

Magee High School’s beloved Principal Bill Broadhead took a leave of absence due to health issues.

Everyone fussed (and should) about the condition of the city.  Continued commitment to clean up the city.  Hopefully, 2023 will see a big change.

Now, don’t blame me when something isn’t listed…send the info to me!  I truly enjoy when people share with me!

I will probably continually add to this list!

Thank you to our readers and supporters of MageeNews.com.  Knowing about our city and county is important.  We need people involved in moving our city forward.  This year has brought people criticizing not just MageeNews but everything and everyone!  I love my city.  The citizens and their situation is important.

As 2022 leaves and 2023 plows ahead, I see a birthday on the horizon.  Do I keep working and pushing or throw in the towel?  My writing and thinking skills are showing their age!  I appreciate your patience with my “brain.”

Friends welcome the New Year with a love and kindness for others.  Go with God in everything.  As my baby sitter Gladys Adams always told my boys, “God don’t like ugly.”  And Gladys was right.  Look our for others…and please pick up the trash, mow your yard, put garbage in bags and cans!!!!  Forward!
