Twitter is 10 years old! The first tweet was sent March 21, 2006. Twitter is celebrating its 10th birthday by saying thank you to users with a short video, and of course a short tweet. In true Twitter-style, the same message also appeared in a tweet and as part of a short video featuring landmark tween over the decade, posted on Twitter’s blog to honor the milestone, accompanied by the hashtag#Love Twitter.
Twitter has come a long way since the first tweet was sent 10 years ago Monday (“just setting up my twttr”).
The problem is that Twitter hasn’t grown much lately. It shed 2 million customers in the last three months of 2015. And the company has never turned a profit.
Twitter has lost $2 billion since in 2011.
It’s hard for Twitter folks to accept, but Twitter just hasn’t shown itself to be popular enough.
CEO of Twitter is Jack Dorsey.
Twitter has given voice to political movements. It has allowed everyday people to connect with presidents, public figures and celebrities. It has forced companies to completely rethink customer service.
With all of that said…I’m just saying, “Happy Birthday, Twitter.”
