Today we celebrate Alice Green, Branch Manager of the Magee Public Library—a steady, smiling force for literacy, learning, and community in our town. If you’ve ever signed a child up for their first library card, hunted down a hard-to-find title, or needed a quiet spot to read, chances are Alice helped make it happen.

Under Alice’s leadership, the library feels less like a building and more like a welcome mat for everyone. She’s the kind of manager who remembers your favorite genre, champions local authors, and makes sure there’s a seat for the early reader and the lifelong learner alike. From cheerful greetings at the desk to thoughtful book displays that nudge us toward something new, Alice brings warmth and intention to the everyday magic of the library.

Beyond books, our library—guided by Alice—offers so much more. Families find story time and summer reading fun; students use computers, printing, and study space; job seekers get help with online applications; seniors enjoy tech help and a friendly face; and everyone benefits from free Wi-Fi, digital books and audiobooks, and programs that make learning feel easy and inviting. Alice has a knack for saying “yes”—yes to partnerships, yes to new ideas, and yes to making the library an open door for all.

If you see Alice this week, be sure to wish her a very happy birthday and thank her for the countless ways she keeps Magee reading, connecting, and growing.
