On Friday, 11/25/16, after receiving a tip, Investigator Chris Wallace and I met at the Okatoma Creek on Dry Creek Road near W.C. Allen road where I used the 10/0 weighted treble hooks and rods used for alligator hunting with 250 pound test Power Pro line to drag the bottom of the creek.
A blanket was snagged in approximately 18 feet of water and brought to the creek bank where Magee Police Officer’s Landon Ates and Chris Jones assisted in recovering 5 long guns. The Smith County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Charles Johnson met Sheriff Donald O Cain, Wallace and I on Saturday where we decided to deploy the Smith County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team on Monday, 11/28 at 12:30 pm to continue the search which produced 2 more long guns. The recovery of these firearms is ongoing. Thanks to all of those from the various agencies working together.
