JACKSON – Legislative leadership today announced to Legislative Budget Office staff that Tony Greer will serve as their new director effective Nov. 21.

Speaker of the House Philip Gunn and Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves hired Greer to oversee the Legislative Budget Office, which assists the Legislature in crafting the state budget each year. Longtime director Debbie Rubisoff recently informed Speaker Gunn and Lt. Gov. Reeves that she will retire by the end of the year.

“Debbie has been a long time public servant, and we thank her for sharing her extensive knowledge of the budget process,” Speaker Gunn said. “I look forward to working with Tony and continuing to streamline agency efficiencies and the budgeting process.”

Greer has been the county administrator for Madison County. He was interim executive director of the Madison County Economic Development Authority.

“Tony will bring a new perspective to state budgeting with his experience in both the public and private sectors,” Lt. Gov. Reeves said.

Greer is a former Hinds County supervisor. He has worked as a certified public accountant and is a certified financial examiner and an accredited insurance examiner. He previously worked as a senior financial analyst at the state Department of Insurance and owned a real estate management company.

“I am truly honored to be working with Speaker Gunn and Lt. Gov. Reeves to keep implementing fiscally conservative policies that save Mississippians tax dollars,” Greer said.

Greer has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Mississippi College. He and his wife, Sharon, have three children.
