Glen H. “Buster” Stubbs
(January10, 1944 – April 10, 2025)
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mount Olive for Glen H. “Buster” Stubbs, 81 of Mt. Olive, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
Brother Brad Brownlee, Brother Bill Griffin, and Brother Scott Hathorn will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the McNair Cemetery in Mt. Olive. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mt. Olive will be in charge of the arrangements.
The Stubbs family will receive guests from 2:00 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 205 South 4th Street, Mt. Olive, Mississippi, 39119.
His pallbearers will be Lyle Hubbard, Mark Jeffrey Hubbard, Mark Leonard, Tony Gray, Steven Allen, Randy Robertson, Quin Easterling, and Danny Waldrop. Honorary pallbearers will Royce Welch, W.L. Johnson, James Bynum, Charlie Bob Prince, and Bobby Myers.
Mr. Stubbs was born on Monday, January 10, 1944, in Magee, Mississippi to Glen and Grace Brown Stubbs. He was a graduate of the Magee High School Class of 1965. Mr. Stubbs retired from Boswell Regional Center in Magee after thirty years of service in the Maintenance Department. He was a member of the Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Mt. Olive. Mr. Stubbs was a member of the Mt. Olive Masonic Lodge #264 and the Wahabi Shriners in Jackson. Mr. Stubbs proudly served his country in the United States Army and National Guard.
Mr. Stubbs was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. The apples of his eye were his precious daughter and his two beautiful granddaughters. He was very family-oriented and loved spending time with his loved ones. Mr. Stubbs had a passion for Farmall tractors and loved collecting and working on them. He enjoyed “plowing up the dirt” and making a garden every season that he could share its bounty with his family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter and enjoyed spending time on his land.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Grace Brown Stubbs; his sister, Patsy Stubbs Durey; and his grandparents, Trussie and Myrtle Ware Stubbs, and Richard and Ella Jones Thames.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-nine and 1/2 years, Elizabeth Penn Stubbs of Mt. Olive; one daughter, Beth Stubbs Luper, and her husband, D.J. of Mt. Olive; two granddaughters, MaKayla Luper and Miley Luper; a special nephew, Bill Welch, and his wife, Sherrie of Scottsboro, Alabama; and a host of other family members and friends.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made in his memory to the Hopewell Presbyterian Church, Attention: Stacey Gray, Treasurer, 764 Highway 541, Mt. Olive, Mississippi, 39119 or to the McNair Cemetery Fund, 454 Jaynesville Road, Mt. Olive, Mississippi, 39119.
