Genevieve Patterson, 87, of Mendenhall, Mississippi, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and grace that will be cherished for generations to come.

Born and raised in Mendenhall, Mississippi, Genevieve was a true Southern lady whose warmth, style, and spirit lit up every room she entered. She was married to the love of her life, Joe Patterson, for 67 beautiful years. Together they built a life full of devotion, laughter, and steadfast love—a bond that was admired by all who knew them.

Genevieve’s greatest joy in life was being a mother. She poured her heart and soul into raising her three children: Joey Patterson, Judy Lee, and Jeanie Gregory. She was “Granny” to a large and loving family, cherishing each grandchild with boundless affection. Her joy only grew as her family expanded to include great-grandchildren—and even great-great-grandchildren—whom she adored deeply.

A woman of strong faith, Genevieve loved Jesus with all her heart and was a dedicated member of her church. Her faith was her foundation, and she lived her life as a reflection of God’s love—always kind, always giving, always full of grace.

Genevieve had a sparkle in her eye and a flair for the finer things. She delighted in getting dressed up, always wearing her signature orangey-reddish lipstick, and never missed a chance to go shopping or indulge in being a lady. Her elegance, her laughter, and her unmistakable style will be missed, but never forgotten.

What a fine woman she was—one whose love shaped a family, whose faith touched countless lives, and whose beauty shone both inside and out. Her memory will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 9:00 am until the service at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in Mendenhall, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Mendenhall Cemetery in Mendenhall, Mississippi. Dr. Joe Wiggins and Bro. Rodney Anderson will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. 601-847-4401

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe H. Patterson; father, Lee Otis Pickering; mother, Lela Dear Pickering; brothers, Guynes Pickering and James Pickering; sister, Ladell Edwards.

She is survived by her son, Joey Patterson (Leslie); daughters, Judy P. Lee (Tommy) and Jeanie Jo Gregory (Johnny); grandchildren, Shey Patterson (Nicole), Kati Beth Winningham, Jennifer Jo Walker, Anna White (Chris), Mallory Ruder (Cory), Timothy Patterson (Caroline), Chris Patterson (Morgan), Stephine McCoy, Lori Hill (Aaron), Hannah Barnard (Brian), Hillary Hayman (Danny) and Halie Pike (Chris); 25 great grandchildren 3 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Shey Patterson, Bennett Hubbard, Randy Horan, Cory Ruder, Chris White, and Jesse Sykes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Grey Patterson, Hudson Ruder, and Jackson Horan.

Special music will be performed by Max Ponder, Buddy Mullins, and Lizzie Mangum.
