James Gary McLendon passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019, at UMMC in Jackson, MS. He was born on January 10, 1942, to his parents, the late D.W. and Sarah Elizabeth Grantham McLendon.
Gary retired after working twenty plus years in the oilfield with H&P. He loved his job. He also had a love of hot rod cars and if you ever saw one of his, you would agree. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He was devoted to his family and cherished his precious time with each of them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, D.W. and Sarah McLendon.
Gary is survived by sons, Jimmy McLendon (Debi), Chris McLendon; daughter, Stephanie Hankins; brother, John McLendon, sister, Gussie Magner (Gerald); grandchildren, Ryan Grubbs, Josh Hankins, Nick McLendon, Roby McLendon, Logan McLendon, Lauren McLendon and two great grandchildren.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, May 10, at Tutor Funeral Home with interment following in Merit Cemetery. Bro. Paul Barnard will officiate.
