Garbage In, Garbage Out!

I saw the news today and it was the same old stuff- murders, robberies, abandoned children, and rage in the streets.   The sad fact about all of this bad news: we are no longer surprised about any of the bad things.  The latest media reports are giving statistics on the increasing number of people that have no church affiliation, do not attend any house of worship, and claim to be either atheist or agnostic.

We have allowed our freedom to become sin. We are seeing excess in everything: wealth, food, drink, and deviant behavior. We want to pick and choose the freedoms that we exercise: We all want freedom to make choices but we do not want to accept the consequences of those choices!

Role models can be positive or negative.

Don’t put a lot of concern into what others think of you.

March 31, 2026

The things that we put into our minds control us. Our thoughts influence our feelings, and our feelings affect our actions. When we find ourselves dwelling on good things, it leads us to want to do those things. But the opposite is also true: If we dwell on trashy, evil, bad things, it leads to bad things. When we fill our minds with things that are contrary to our beliefs, it will weaken our values and it will affect our behavior. WE ARE NO LONGER SHOCKED!! We see so much evil, we become accustomed to seeing it and we are no longer outraged!   Without strong values, there are no strong reactions when our values are compromised. That old adage about computers is true: “Garbage in, Garbage out”. The same is true to our minds and thoughts. We need to dwell on the things that will have a positive impact on our lives.

“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. (Colossians 3:2)

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:2)

“Finally, Brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” (Philippians 4:8)
