JACKSON, MS – The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks’ (MDWFP) Mississippi Museum of Natural Science (MMNS) invites you to join a distinguished lineup of experts as they share their latest research at upcoming “First Tuesday Lectures”. The hour-long lectures are included with Museum admission or MMNS Foundation Membership.
March 4: “Evolution of Crappie Fishing and Management in Mississippi 1950’s – 2020’s, with Emphasis on the USACE Flood Control Reservoirs”. Speaker: Keith Meals, MDWFP Fisheries Biologist.
April 1: “April Fools! Nature’s Mimics”. Speaker: Brady Dunaway, MMNS Heritage Program Ecologist.
May 6: “Black Bears in Mississippi”. Speaker: Anthony Ballard, MDWFP Black Bear Program Coordinator.
June 3: “Understanding of Wild Turkey Populations via Citizen Science: Thirty Years of MDWFP’s Spring Gobbler Hunting Survey”. Speaker: Adam Butler, MDWFP Wild Turkey Program Coordinator.
July 1: “When Will We Find Life on Another Planet?”. Speaker: Dr. Angelle Tanner, associate professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at Mississippi State University.
August 5: “Crayfish, Crawfish, or Crawdads? Crayfish Diversity and Conservation in Mississippi”. Speaker: Calvin Rezac, MMNS Conservation Resource Biologist.
September 2: “A Shell-ebration of Mississippi’s Turtle Diversity”. Speaker: Dr. Grover Brown, professor of Biology at Jacksonville State University.
October 7: “Managing Healthy Deer Herds Starts with Sound Science”. Speaker: John Gruchy, MDWFP Private Lands Program Coordinator.
