What’s falling from the sky?

Airport manager Mike Berry and Mayor Dale Berry

Thursday afternoon, February 27, 2025, Department head for the airport, Mike Berry received a phone call from one excited man!  Mike soon learned something big had fallen from the sky onto Highway 49 south below Magee.  The “object” hit the highway (can you believe no one was hurt)…jumped and then landed in the medium.  The man explained the event was wild.  As Mike said, “he was so excited…I could hardly understand what he was saying!”

Check out the length of this “object”

Mike immediately headed to the scene.  I have no idea how Mike was able to remove the object by himself…but he did!  Once loaded in his truck, Mike brought the object to City Hall.  A call from Mayor Berry alerted me to the situation.

Much to my dismay, I messed up the sound on the video.  I am so sorry!  But, I have pictures and an updated video.

The FAA was called and correct procedures were followed…one being “lock up” the object.  (I really don’t think that the word “object” is the correct word!  I guess a big ole piece is better.)

A look inside the object

The piece of equipment was being pulled by an airplane and somehow broke away.   I understand the airplane was out of Madison, Mississippi on a mission checking water levels/table in the Simpson County area.  (That company is very lucky that the equipment didn’t hit any cars on the highway.)

We never know what will happen in Magee, Mississippi!
