Felony Drug Arrest Stems from Minor Traffic Violation
A routine traffic stop by Magee K-9 Officer, Landon Ates, along with his K-9 partner, Jade, led to the discovery of nearly $3,000 worth of marijuana in street-value, according to local authorities.
Officer Ates reportedly initiated a traffic stop on a 2005 Cadillac Deville Tuesday, April 10th, 2015, after the driver, identified as Tirrell Marcell Milton, 33 years-of-age, of Magee, failed to use a turn signal. Milton was then determined to have a suspended driver’s license and was subsequently placed under arrest.
Search incident to arrest, Officer Ates discovered a small plastic bag of marijuana in Milton’s front pant pocket. Milton was then asked if there were any illegal items in the car, at which time, Milton stated he had “about 1/4 pound of marijuana” under the passenger seat. Officer Ates then recovered a large bag of marijuana, which later was ascertained to weigh approximately 230 grams, officials also reported.
Lt. Joey Womack reportedly advised Milton of his Miranda rights, and Milton was then booked on the following charges: Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Distribute, DWLS and No Turn Signal.
The 2005 Cadillac Deville was reportedly seized by Magee Police Department.
Milton later received a $10,000 bond, set by Magee Municipal Court Judge, Eugene Knight.
