Elizabeth found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. She loved working in her yard and tending to her garden, where she cultivated both flowers and peace. Her life was dedicated to the education of children. She obtained a Master’s degree in Education from William Carey College and then went on to teach in the Smith County School District for 33 years. Her faith was the foundation of her life. As an educator she used her teaching skills in her church. She faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher for 30 years at Mize First Baptist Church. Elizabeth’s greatest goal as a teacher was to instill in her students a love for Scripture, ensuring that each one learned the books of the Bible and carried that knowledge in their hearts. She will be remembered for her kindness, her devotion to God, and her nurturing spirit that touched her family, her church, and her community. Elizabeth leaves behind a legacy of faith and love that will continue to grow, much like the gardens she so tenderly cared for.
