It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Edna E. Purvis on May 23, 2025, at her home in Smith County, Mississippi.

Mrs. Edna Purvis was born on February 19, 1931, in Smith County. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found joy in gardening, fishing, traveling, playing the piano, and most importantly, spending time with her family. She was a dedicated member of Rock Bluff Baptist Church and was deeply loved in the community.

Mrs. Edna is survived by her four children: Judy Martin and husband Tony, Melba Stevens (widow of Jimmy Stevens), Gary Purvis and wife Phyllis, and Tracy Purvis. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Junius M. Purvis; her parents, Robert B. Dukes and Fenie Dukes; brothers Jessie Dukes, Cortez Dukes, and Robert Dukes Jr.; and sisters Lucille Pendergrass, Ina Mae Baker, and Lavell Findley.

Funeral services will be held at Rock Bluff Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Brother Donnie Stuart will officiate the service, followed by burial in the church cemetery. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031
