Edith R. Boykin Blakeney, 86, of Mize, Mississippi, passed away from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Miss Care Center in Raleigh, Mississippi. She was born Sunday, March 22, 1936, in Taylorsville, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Taylorsville, Mississippi.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. The burial will follow in Fairmount Waco Cemetery in Mize, Mississippi. Brother Timothy Beard and Brother Trey Harper will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements. (601) 785-6564
Mrs. Edith was a member of Taylorsville First United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed going to the fish house, working crossword puzzles, spending $20.00 at the casino, watching Family Feud, and most of all spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all of her loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Billy Blakeney; son, Billy Keith Blakeney; father, James Short Boykin; mother, Onnie Mae Glenn Boykin; and sister, Johnnie Merle Gambrell.
She is survived by her son, John Kenneth Blakeney (Laci Sanford) of Mize, MS; grandchildren, Ethan Blakeney (Madison Blankenship) of Mize, MS, Josh Blakeney (Nikki) of Mize, MS, Dustin Blakeney of Mize, MS, and Chassity McCarty (Justin) of Ellisville, MS; great-grandchildren, Gracey Blakeney, Vada Blakeney, Kyndal Blakeney, Kaelyn Pryor, Bryant Fretwell, and Barron Fretwell; brother, Jimmy Boykin (Debbie); special friend, Diane Sullivan; and a host of other family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Tucker Boykin, Garrett Boykin, Todd Boykin, Tyler Boykin, Dean Phipps, Weston Phipps, Josh Stringer, and Zach Walker.
