DECATUR – The East Central Warriors took a doubleheader from the Co-Lin Wolves 12-6 and 11-7. The Wolves are back home o Saturday, April 9, hosting the Northeast Mississippi Tigers. Watch the action live on www.colinathletics.com or listen on WMUJ 104.3 in Brookhaven.

The Warriors took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning as they sent eight players to the plate.

East Central tacked on another two more in the second before the Wolves plated a run in the top of the third. Reed Taylor singled to left to score Jeremy Moore who reached base on a single to pull the Wolves to 5-1.

The Warriors did not slow down in the third as a homerun scored two more runs extended the lead to 9-1.

Co-Lin trailed by 10 after the fourth inning as East Central plated an additional two runs. The Warriors scored their final run in the fifth and extended their lead to 12-1.     The Wolves battled back in the top of the sixth. Tyler McLeod ripped a line drive to right field that scored Matthew Mordecai. Champ Davison brought McLeod home with an infield single, while Jackson Twitty scored on a throwing error to make the score 12-4.

In the top of the ninth, the Wolves tried to make it interesting. Twitty drove in Kewaun May, who drew a walk to lead off the inning, and Lee Smith brought in McLeod with an infield single. The late runs ultimately were not enough as the Wolves 12-6.

Moore led the Wolves at the plate with three singles. McLeod (1 RBI) and Austin Irby both finished the contest with a pair of singles. Mordecai doubled. Taylor, Davison, Smith, and Twitty all finished with a single and one RBI.

Reagan Warren led the Warriors with three hits. Billy Cameron led the team with four RBIs off two hits. Dylan Snypes, T.J. Lockett, Matthew Mitchel, and Brandon Clark all finished with two hits.

Jordan Antley suffered the loss for the Wolves from the mound giving up eight earned runs on seven hits, walking two in 2.1 innings. J.D. Evans finished the game allowing four runs on nine hits, striking out two and walking one in 5.2 innings.

Taylor Creighton got the win for the Warriors throwing five innings, giving up seven hits, one earned run, striking out four and walking three.

East Central 11, Co-Lin 7

East Central plated the first run in the second game in the bottom of the second inning off of a single to right field.

The Wolves tied the game in the top of the third after Jeremy Moore hit a sacrifice fly that scored Kewaun May who reached safely on an error.

East Central poured in four runs in the bottom of the third stretching the lead to 5-1.

Jackson Twitty drove Tyler McLeod in the fourth to help narrow the gap 5-2.      Reed Taylor drove in Matthew Mordecai late in the fifth to whittle the Warriors lead down to 5-3.

But, East Central’s offense exploded in the bottom of the fifth with six runs, and pulled away to an 11-3 lead.

In the sixth inning, Mordecai smashed a grand slam to left scoring Irby, May, and Twitty and cutting the Warrior lead to 11-7.

At the plate for the Wolves, Mordecai led with a double and a grand slam (4 RBIs). Justin Oliver had a pair of singles. Moore doubled for an RBI. Taylor and Twitty each finished with a single and one RBI apiece. Also adding support were May and McLeod a single apiece.

Cole Prestegard led East Central’s 14 hit attack with four hits and two RBIs. A host of other Warriors posted hits in the game.

Austin Douglas suffered the loss for the Wolves allowing five runs (two earned) on five hits, striking out five and walking three in 2.1 innings of work. Also seeing action on the mound for Co-Lin were Tanner Jones (two innings, four earned runs, six hits, one strikeout), Ryan Cullop (two earned runs, one hit), and Austin Odom (two strikeouts and two hits, 1.2 innings).

Luke Yancey earned the win for the Warriors after throwing 3.2 innings. He gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits, walked three and struck out two. Also seeing action were Tyler Ladner (one earned run, three hits, two strikeouts, 1.1 innings), Christian Bellew (three earned runs, four hits, 1 inning), and Channing Wall (one hit, 1 inning).
