Around 1:00 AM Wednesday, May 31st, the old abandoned grocery store at the intersection of highway 28 East and Sharon Saratoga Road burned to the ground. The unoccupied building, which did not have electricity, was a total loss. Origin of the fire is unknown at this time.
Simpson County Sheriff Department, Magee Volunteer Fire Department, and Magee Police Department responded to the fire.
