I oversee two committees for our city:  Cemetery Committee and Magee Development and Improvement.

Normally, the aldermen suggest  someone from their ward who would like to be a part of making a difference.  Plans are to still follow …but our committee is anxious for anyone who would like to serve join.  It is not a requirement to live in the city!  We want people who love and want to see Magee succeed.

Our new year begins in October.

⚽ WORLD CUP QUESTION OF THE DAY!

The Cemetery Committee works to improve the cemetery as well as address issues at the cemetery.  An upcoming project is to clean around the two trees just as you pass through the gates…and move the trash can!  Hopefully, we can get some new trash cans for the area. Plans are to place flags at the entrance of the cemetery for Veterans’ Day.  Our committee meets the first Tuesday of every month beginning at 5 PM in the city board room.  If you are interested, join jus October 1st.  We can accept donations for the cemetery.  I don’t think the funds are tax deductible—but we need $$$$

The Magee Development and Improvement Committee works to make areas in the city look better.  THIS has been a huge undertaking…and getting results is tough.  But, we have worked on flower beds around City Hall and the Police Station.  We have kept the planters by PD entrance planted.  (Keeping things watered is a huge problem…but there is hope for the future!) We purchased a bulletin board located at the front of the City Hall to prevent  “stuff” being stuck on the windows.  We have painted some areas at the front of City Hall but plan to do even more.  We are constantly trying to work out a more attractive entrance to Main Street.  We have worked at Ural Everett Park…an ongoing project. The MDI committee meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month.  (October 15th is our next meeting)

Maybe one of these two groups interest you.  Give me a call or just show up!  (601-310-6881 or email Sue)

(If anyone knows a group that repairs tomb stones for free—let us known.  Many of the stones at the cemetery need repair but no family members live in the area.)

Hello, I am a former girlfriend of George Young, aka Wheelchair George. I just found out yesterday that he passed away. Which has been very emotional for me.
I have not seen or heard from him in over 30 years. I do hope to connect with a family member to inquire about what was the cause of his death.
    Thank you,
    Paula Dusza
