The Scriptural passage chosen for today is found in Psalm 24:3-4: “Who may ascend the hill of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart.” The psalmist knew his Lord and Master so well and often extolled in poetry and song his praises to the one true God, the Giver and Sustainer of life. The psalmist knew that not just anyone could presume an audience with God. There were certain criteria to be met. In this instance, a pure heart and clean hands were necessary. Do we have clean hands and a pure heart when we approach God in our prayers? Do we forgive others by cleaning the slate before we “ascend the holy hill”? Let us be mindful and do a personal assessment before we “stand in His holy place.” Let’s approach God’s throne with reverence and humility and with clean hands and a pure heart. Amen!
