The Scriptural passage for today is found in Matthew 7:12: “So, in everything, do unto others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” We commonly refer to this verse as “The Golden Rule,” and it is a good rule of thumb in dealing with our fellow man. Think first of how we ourselves want to be treated and then practice dealing with others in like manner. It is a practiced skill and can best be accomplished by studying the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Be gentle, kind, humble, and slow to speak, weighing words before speaking. My grandmother used to say that people who didn’t bridle their tongues were like “bell clappers.” It’s true. Let love flavor our actions and demeanor. Amen!
