Debbie G. Cockrell passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Debbie was a lifelong member of New Hope Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for many years. She worked in healthcare and dedicated her life to caring for others with compassion and kindness. Above all, she treasured her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her Mamaw Crock.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.L. and Billie Jean O’Neil; her loving husband of 49 years, James Edward Cockrell; and her son, John Goodan.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, James (Staci) Cockrell, Justin (Jessica) Cockrell, and Jeremy (Marcie) Cockrell; grandchildren, Mallory (Branson Gully) Cockrell, Travis (Bella Broadhead) Cockrell, Colby (Carley) Cockrell, Keton (Anna) Cockrell, Carter (Chrisanna Berry) Cockrell; great-grandchildren, Brayden Cockrell, John B. Cockrell and Creed Cockrell; siblings, Linda (Bill) Bennett, Kenny (Kathy) O’Neil and Pam Warren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at New Hope Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. The service will be at 1:00 PM with Bro. Jimmy Arender officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Keton Cockrell, Carter Cockrell, Travis Cockrell, Branson Gully, Greg Boykin, and Doug Crawford.
Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
