Dangerously cold temperatures are expected to affect the entire state early next week. Wintery Mix Likely, Heavy Snow is expected to affect the state Sunday night through Tuesday.

Dangerously cold temperatures are expected to affect the entire state early next week.

  • Extreme dangerous cold is expected for cities between Southaven, Ripley, Tupelo, Oxford, Clarksdale, Greenville, Greenwood, and Cleveland. Low temperatures around or less than 10 degrees are likely with highs below freezing. Frostbite is possible in 30 minutes or less. Hypothermia is likely with prolonged outdoor exposure. Damage to exposed pipes and water main breaks are possible. 
  • Significant dangerous cold is expected for cities between Columbus, Yazoo City, Philadelphia, Meridian, Jackson, Vicksburg, Natchez, Brookhaven, and Magee. Low temperatures between 10-15 degrees are likely with highs below freezing. Wind chills between -10 to -1 degrees are possible. Frostbite and hypothermia are likely with prolonged outdoor exposure. Damage to exposed pipes is likely. 
  • Elevated dangerous cold is expected for cities between Laurel, Hattiesburg, and coastal counties. Lows in the teens are possible with highs near or below freezing. Wind chills between 0 to 9 degrees. Frostbite and hypothermia are likely with prolonged outdoor exposure. Damage to exposed pipes is likely. 

Wintery Mix Likely, Heavy Snow is expected to affect the state Sunday night through Tuesday.

  • Significant areas can expect snow and sleet accumulation likely, and heavy snow is possible. Cities between Southaven, Ripley, Clarksdale, Oxford, Tupelo, Clarksdale, Cleveland, Greenwood, and Greenwood are under this category. Expect dangerous travel conditions, with roads becoming hazardous. Some downed trees and powerlines with sporadic power outages are expected. 
  • Elevated threat is possible for cities between, Eupora, Columbus, Yazoo City, Philadelphia, Vicksburg, Jackson, Natchez, Brookhaven, Magee, Laurel, and Hattiesburg. Snow, sleet, and ice accumulation are likely. Roads will become hazardous with a few trees and powerlines may be downed with sporadic power outages possible. 
  • Limited threat of light wintry mix of sleet, ice, and rain is possible for cities south of Hattiesburg. Bridges may become slick.

• Wintery Mix and Heavy Snow will be affecting the state Sunday night through Tuesday.
