The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves (1-0, 0-0) dominated for 40 minutes Thursday night as Co-Lin defeated the No. 25 ranked Holmes Community College Bulldogs (0-1, 0-0) 87-75. Mullen Gymnasium was electric throughout the contest as Co-Lin outscored the Bulldogs 41-35 in the first half and 46-40 in the second.

“We are a focused basketball team and these guys feel like they have something to prove,” said Co-Lin head coach Kenny Bizot. “This is a huge win for us and now have two road games to focus on next week.”

The Wolves led from the opening tip after sophomore Darrian Wilson started the season with a corner three. The Bulldogs battle back throughout the opening minutes and tied the game at 15 all with 12:02 remaining in the opening half. Co-Lin responded with a 17-3 run over the next four minutes to leap out to 14-point lead.

Holmes refused to allow the Wolves to put the game away early, as the Bulldogs rallied back late in the half with a 15-3 run of their own. At the half Co-Lin led 41-35.

Co-Lin lit up the scoreboard with a 6-0 in just one minute of play early in the second half. The quick baskets brought life into Mullen Gymnasium as the Wolves stretched their lead to 13 with just 10 minutes remaining in the contest.

The Wolves kept the game out of reach late in the game with solid free throwing from Jonathan Floyd and strong defensive play on the other end of the floor.

Lazorian McNulty, a redshirt freshman from Brookhaven, Miss., led the Wolves offensively with 16 points. McNulty was 4-for-6 from beyond the arc.

“Lazorian came off the bench and was ready to go,” said Bizot. “Very few people work on their game as much as he does so he was well deserving a good night.”

Youry White, a sophomore from Baton Rouge, La., posted a double-double as he netted 14 points and hauled in 11 rebounds. Jeremy Treaudo, a sophomore from New Orleans, La., poured 15 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Anthony Jones, a sophomore from Wesson, Miss., added another 14 points.

Three double-digit scorers led Holmes offensively. Winford Ross posted 16 points and seven rebounds, Kassim Nicholson scored 14 points and had seven rebounds, and Javon Franklin had a double-double after scoring 13 points and bringing down 10 boards.

Co-Lin shot 39 percent (28-for-72) from the field, 35 percent (9-for-26) from the three-point line, and 71 percent (22-for-31) from the foul stripe. The Bulldogs shot 46 percent (25-for-55) from the field, 31 percent (13-for-21) from beyond the arc, and 54 percent (21-for-39) from the free throw line.

The Wolves are back in action Monday, November 6 at 8:00 p.m. as Co-Lin travels to Moorhead, Miss. to take on the Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans. Follow @colinathletics on Twitter for updates.
