WESSON – Recent Copiah-Lincoln Community College Medical Laboratory Technology Program graduate Jordan Parker of Natchez has been named the ASCLS-MS Student of the Year. Parker was recognized at the annual conference of the Mississippi Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS-MS), a chapter of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science.

“Jordan’s journey through our program has been the definition of perseverance,” said MLT Program Instructor Shanna Clark. “She struggled to keep up with the demands of motherhood while balancing classes and finding the time to study daily. I love looking back at how far she has come from her first semester in our program.”

In addition to her recognition by the ASCLS-MS, Parker was also selected as the Outstanding Student for the Medical Laboratory Technology program during Co-Lin’s annual awards day.

“As her instructors, we have seen Jordan succeed and we have seen her struggle,” said MLT Program Director Paula Yarborough. “Her ability to rise above her situation and achieve her goal while remaining humble and gracious is what really stood out to us. We are very proud of her success. She worked very hard to achieve it!”
