Co-Lin archers place in top three at national competition
Three Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wesson Campus Archery Team members qualified to compete at the National Field Archery Association (NFAA) Vegas Shootout hosted in Las Vegas, NV. The tournament welcomed over 3,700 registered shooters from colleges and universities across the nation including Iowa State, Mississippi State University, and University of California. Co-Lin was one of only three community/technical colleges represented at the competition.
In the first round of their division, all three Co-Lin students knocked a university student out of the lead. In an elimination round, KrysLynne Poole of Meadville placed third in the nation in Women’s Basic Bow, Mark McNeese of Sontag placed third in the nation in Men’s Basic Bow, and Austin Smith of Mount Olive finished fourth in the Men’s Basic Bow division. Additionally, Smith and Poole placed third overall as a mixed team.
Co-Lin is the only community college in the state to have competitive archery teams. The team is coached by John McDonald. For more information, visit www.colinathletics.com.
