The Mississippi College football team went through their first practice of the 2016 spring season on Monday afternoon at Robinson-Hale Stadium.

“I thought it was a really good way to get things started,” said head coach John Bland. “It was a perfect day outside, and the guys were extremely energetic. We’re installing a lot of new things with a lot of new faces, but I feel like it was a positive first day.”

The Choctaws opened the day with special teams work, followed by a round of stretching with Assistant A.D. for Sports Performance, Michael Shumaker, went through offensive and defensive drills, and finished things up by coming together on the field.”

“It’s really good to get out here and get into the swing of things,” said senior defensive back Reggie Bennett. “We worked on a lot of little things today that will make us better as we go along. It was a really good start.”

“I thought it was a great start, a fast start,” said senior running back Josh Dixon. “The guys really go into a good flow on the opening day. We’ve got a lot of guys out here that are hungry and ready to make plays.”

The Choctaws will hit the field again on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. The 2016 Spring Game is scheduled for Saturday, April 16th at 12:00 p.m.
