He loved being in the outdoors fishing, making stained glass, and traveling with Irene, some of which were amateur storm chasing. He was always joking around and having a fun time. He enjoyed playing Canasta, eating anything with peanut butter in it, and spending time with family. He was a jack of all trades who could fix almost anything.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Bea Smith; his wife, Irene Smith; sister, Betty Lou Schwerin and brothers-in-law, Wayne Schwerin and Philip Nelson.

He is survived by children, Kenneth Smith (Dinah), and Ginger Lowry (John); grandchildren, Owen Smith, (Erin), Matthew Smith (Dana), Wendy Bairfield (Justin), and Marianne Smith; great-grandchildren, Clara Smith, Lincoln Smith, Cora Kirk, Elsa Lynn Kirk, Hunter Bairfield, Katie Bairfield, Walker Bairfield, Kylie Rae Barfield, and Peyton Bairfield; sister, Jan Nelson; nephew, Christopher Schwerin (Michelle) and niece, Michelle Sothers (Russell).

The service will be held at 4:00 pm on Monday, June 27, 2022, at Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall, MS with visitation from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Interment will follow in D’Lo Cemetery with Bro. James Smith officiating.

Arrangements were entrusted with Tutor Funeral Home of Mendenhall.
