Charles M. Carter passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. He was born to Harvey and Elaine (Mayfield) Carter on January 12, 1939.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served his country proudly. Charles’s career spanned 45 years, with his first six years in the United States Navy.  During his time in the Navy, he had the distinction of serving as a nuclear reactor operator onboard the USS Bainbridge, the first nuclear-powered destroyer. After being discharged from the Navy, Charles worked for the Boeing Company as part of the Apollo space program constructing the Saturn V booster launch vehicle which propelled the Apollo spacecraft into space.  Following the end of the Apollo program, Charles was employed by the Eastman Kodak Company where he spent the remainder of his career as a Field Service Engineer for 33 years.
He is survived by his wife Lynn G. Carter, son; Chuck (Melanie) Carter; daughter, Tanya Carter Lee (Chuck); brother, Jimmy Carter (Mabeth); sister, Judy Carter Dobbs (Frank); grandchildren, Lauren Adams (Ben) of Edingurg, Mason Yeager of Petal, Andrew Yeager of Yongin-si, South Korea, Curt Carter of Mize, Erin Carter of Mize, RaeLyn Lee of Mize, Avi Lee of Mize, and great-grandchild, Caroline Adams of Edinburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Elaine Carter.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS. The service will be held in Tutor Chapel on Saturday 15, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Glen Howell and Rev. Tony McDonald officiating. Interment will follow in Mize Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to First United Methodist Church Missions, 226 1st Ave NW, Magee, MS 39111, or online at mageefumc.org, in memory of Charles M. Carter.
Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral home of Magee.
