For this part of the series, I, Ian Cowart, want to focus on Magee Chamber of Commerce Board of Director, Brian Barnard.

Brian serves as the Vice President of Trustmark Bank, and was appointed onto the board this past year. Brian was appointed as a Board of Director in order to serve the remaining term of previous Board member, Matthew Hickman. Brian has only this year to serve, however the board took at vote at the beginning of the year to allow Brian to be re-nominated for a full 3 year term if he accepts the nomination.

Brian has never missed a single meeting or event the Chamber has hosted. I have been impressed this year with how much time and effort Brian has devoted to the Chamber. Brian helped deliver food for “Tea in the Gardens” and direct traffic Crazy Day morning as well has aid in the car show. He even volunteered his time to play Santa Claus for this years “Downtown Disney Christmas Parade”

Brian was a huge influence and help in the discussions for “Project Downtown”. Brian always brought a creative and constructive approach to any challenge the Board faced this year. Having some on the Board with that ability has been a tremendous asset. I have truly appreciated both Brian’s input and advice going through this year.

Brian is one of Magee’s finest and natural born leaders. Brian has served as President of the Simpson County Economic Development Foundation and currently serves as President of the Magee Lions Club. Just by his accolades alone, it is clear that Brian has a passion to serve his community. One trait that I admire most about Mr. Barnard is that he isn’t just a leader, but a servant leader. We as a community need more people like Brian to take Magee where it needs to go.

Thank you Brian for all that you do for the Chamber and City of Magee.
