Rev. Richard Kight celebrated 55 years as a licensed minister on March 7th. Kight preached his first sermon at the age of 10. He has preached in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, North Dakota, Vermont, and New Hersey. He has written devotions for Peoples Press, Yazoo Herald, St Tammany Farmer, and other newspapers.
Rev Kight now spends his time visiting hospitals, rest homes, city and county jails, Youth detention centers as well as rescue missions.
A 1970 graduate of Yazoo City High School, Rev. Kight continued his education at Holmes Junior College, Tupelo Bible College, and Whitworth College.
In 2000 he received an award from Exxon Oil Company
In 2001 he obtained a certificate from Mississippi Speaking Course in the ministry.
In 2006, Rev Kight received an award from a church in Mobile, Al in preaching
In 2013, he was named “Big Man on Campus” for the Simpson County schools.
In 2015, he received an award from an Indian School in South Dakota for preaching.
