In a dignified ceremony held Saturday (November 4), Captain Eric Williams bid farewell to Alpha Company, 106th BSBas he passed the torch of leadership to Captain Ivan Mims. The event, rich with tradition and military precision, marked the culmination of CPT Eric Williams’s exemplary tenure at the helm.
Surrounded by comrades, family, and distinguished guests, Captain Williams received heartfelt accolades for his unwavering commitment, strategic acumen, and devotion to duty. He leaves behind a legacy of professionalism and a steadfast dedication to the mission.

Captain Williams received the Mississippi Magnolia Medal. The Mississippi Magnolia Medal is a prestigious honor bestowed upon individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service, valor, or contributions to the state of Mississippi. This medal, adorned with the iconic magnolia flower, symbolizes the virtues of strength, resilience, and commitment to the betterment of the community.

The medal is a symbol of gratitude from the state, acknowledging the extraordinary efforts that have positively impacted Mississippi and its residents. Whether in the fields of public service, community development, or acts of heroism, those adorned with the Mississippi Magnolia Medal stand as beacons of inspiration for others to follow. This distinguished award reflects the deep appreciation and admiration Mississippi holds for those who distinguishes themselves through outstanding service or extraordinary achievement in behalf of the Mississippi National Guard. 

As the unit faces new challenges, Captain Williams departs with the respect and admiration of all those who served under his command. The outgoing commander’s vision and leadership have undoubtedly left an indelible mark on Alpha Company, 106th BSB.

In a final salute, Captain Williams expressed gratitude for the privilege of leading such a dedicated group of individuals. As he embark on new endeavors, the unit remains united under the leadership of Captain Mims, ensuring the legacy of excellence endures.

The Simpson County community extends its heartfelt congratulations!
Captain Williams will now serve a new role as the Financial Management Officer with 1-155th Brigade Combat Team located in Tupelo.
