Thursday night, June 28th approximately a 120 people attend the debate between the candidates vying for the House of Representatives District 77 seat. All five candidates were in attendance.
The event was held at the Magee Elementary School giving folks a chance to see what a great new school we have in Magee.
The Magee Chamber of Commerce coordinated the debate which was live streamed on MageeNews.com FaceBook page.
LauraLyn Barr, chamber president, greeted the guest. The program began with a prayer by Richard Rankin and pledge of allegiance. Hinds County Circuit Court Judge Jeff Weill introduced the candidates.
Judge Weill, who has served eight-years on the bench, is seeking election for the Fourth District Court of Appeals. Weill will appear on the November 6th ballot.
Russ Latino with Americans for Prosperity conducted the debate.
The candidates participating: Cliff Brown, Hayes Patrick, Chris Purdum, Cemper Scott, and Price Wallace
Each candidate gave a two minute introduction.
The questions asked were not always easy. The candidates were not aware of what questions would be asked. Each participant leaned on personal experiences with their stance on issues.
Local restaurants provided refreshments.
