This year’s 2016-2017 Rice Ainsworth Scholarship recipient from the Simpson County Baptist Association is Ashley Nicole Bruce.
The recipient letter read, “This student possess a deep devotion to their Christian walk as attested by their peers, pastor, and church staff. This student has the reputation of always found faithful and active in the work of the church.”
Ashley is a dedicated member of Dry Creek Baptist Church. She is currently involved in her youth group and Acteens. Ashley is also a member of the Praise Team, teaches Children’s Church, and serves on the Youth & Children’s Committee. Ashley stated that her goal as a young Christian is to grow closer to Christ, allow Him to use her as He sees fit, and to influence the younger generations.
Ashley is the eighteen-year-old daughter of Mike and Heather Bruce. Ashley is a 2016 Simpson County Academy alumni. While at SCA, Ashley was involved in: FBLA, SADD, FCA, NSHSS, Honors Society, Academic Competition Team, Quiz Bowl, Student Council, God’s Girls, Archery, Dual Enrollment through Co-Lin, and she was named Simpson Academy’s 12th Grade Class Favorite. In the fall, Ashley plans to attend Mississippi College and begin as a sophomore. She plans to become active by living on campus, joining a tribe, and attending all of the festivities that take place on campus. She plans to obtain a degree in Biology in three years, then attend medical school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Following medical school, Ashley plans to major in pediatrics and cardiology to become a Pediatric Cardiologist, following in her favorite doctor’s footsteps.
Ashley Bruce will attend Mississippi College.
