Brent-&-SusanEvery four years we have the opportunity to elect someone to serve as mayor. This person is charged with the task of leading our city and promoting our resources. For the first time in 20 years, Magee will be under new leadership.   After prayerful consideration, I, Brent Walker, am announcing my candidacy for mayor of the City of Magee.

I am married to Susan Riley Walker and have two sons, James and John. My parents are Herman and Ann Walker and Susan’s parents are Lewis and Hilda Roberts, all of Magee. Both Susan and I are graduates of Magee High School. We have deep roots in Magee.

I have served on the Board of Directors and as Board President with the Magee Chamber of Commerce and I have served Simpson County as your State Representative in the Mississippi legislature.   I am employed in management with the MS Department of Revenue.

Today, more than ever before, we must promote our community in hopes of making it second to none. We must aggressively seek new industries and provide a positive atmosphere for all our residents.

The mayor must be a vital and active communications link between the people and the city. One of my greatest personal assets is that for over 30 years my career has led me to deal with people of all types. I have skills and desires that will be used to bring people together toward common goals and unity.

The foundation of any thriving community must include education, the arts, public safety, fire protection, economic development, quality jobs, adequate health care, and recreation for all. I want to attract more businesses to our area with better paying job opportunities. This will require work on our city’s neighborhood appearances and our city’s comprehensive plans for future growth. I’ve got the enthusiasm, energy and drive to put “Magee on the Move”. I am asking all of those interested in serving on Magee’s board to join me in my vision for the future.

I’m not afraid to let people know that Magee will be “open for business” if you elect me as Magee’s New Mayor. You know who I am and what I stand for. You know I will work hard to represent you well.

In the event that I do not see you personally during my campaign, I am asking you through this means to vote for me, Brent Walker, Mayor, May 2nd.   Leadership today, vision for tomorrow.
