Don O’Cain, Sheriff, gave his report.

  1. Hire part time deputy J Lee.
  2. Hire Full Time D Thurman as shop foreman
  3. Purchase IDI On Line program to replace Golden Eagle.

Tommy Joe Harvey, Chancery Clerk gave his report.

  1. Certificate of attendance, Eugene Knight, 2016 Justice Court Judges Fall conference Choctaw, MS October 5-7, 2016.
  2. Membership for Judge Knight, Mississippi Justice Court Judges Association $250.00.
  3. Membership for Tommy Joe Harvey, Mississippi chancery clerks Association $1,000.00.
  4. Payment of software for court reporter Debbie Williams Simpson County Part $134.78
  5. Right of easement for Harrisville Water Association.
  6. MDOT Driveway application, John Stringer.

Rhuel Dickinson, county Administrator gave his report.

  1. Adopt an order to approve the claims docket of October 17, 2016, in the amount of $866,622.84.
  2. Authorize the September 2016 Completed Claims Docket to made a part of the minutes and the Board president to sign.
  3. Approve the financial reports and solid waste reports for the month of September 2016, as presented by the County Administrator.
  4. Consider the request of the Simpson county Economic Development district for assistance with the cleanup of the Mendenhall Commerce Park with driveway improvements to the water tank and clearing of undergrowth and small tress from around the water tank.
  5. Consider the purchase of a dump trailer. The lowest quotation is from Southern States Utility in the amount of $33,665.00. The second lowest quotation was from La Paine in the Amount of $34,000.00. Decided to go with the lowest and best bid.
  6. Approve the request to keep Simpson County Beautiful (KSCB) to accept the donation of a new trailer to the Sheriff’s office for road side trash pickup, to declare the old trailer originally donated by KSCB as surplus, and the transfer the old surplus trailer to the Town of Braxton as authorized by Section 31-7-13(m)(vi)
  7. Approve the filing of the Annual MDOT Title VI Assessment Report of 2016, adoption of a new Title VI Non-Discrimination Agreement, and the USDOT Standard Title VI Non-Discrimination Assurances DOT Order No. 1050.2A
  8. Approve the annual dues in the National and Mississippi Extension Association of Family & Consumer Sciences for Amanda Blakeney in the amount of $120.00.
  9. Consider the repair of sidewalks at the courthouse.
  10. Acknowledge and record in the board minutes
    1. D’lo Water Park Daily Recap report for September 2016.
    2. Outdoor burn ban order beginning October 6, through November 6, 2016, as requested by the Mississippi forestry commission.
    3. Tax Collector Distribution of Cash Fiscal Year Ending, 9-30-2016.
    4. MDOT – Office of State Aide Road construction Fiscal Year 2017 Bridge Posting requirements.

 

With no further business meeting was adjourned until October 7, 2016.
