Karen Flowers will soon rejoin the Mississippi College Law School staff as assistant dean for advancement.
A 1991 MC business administration graduate, Flowers previously worked for MC Law for six years in the alumni office and handled admissions duties. She worked at MC Law from 2009 through 2015.
The Clinton resident served as director of development at Jackson Prep in Flowood for the past year.
MC Law Dean Wendy Scott is delighted to announce Karen’s appointment. The Mississippian begins her new fund-raising duties on the campus in downtown Jackson in early November.
During her half-dozen years on staff, Karen “built a strong relationship between alumni and the law school with her pleasant demeanor and dedication to the success of our graduates,” Scott said.
Scott predicts that MC Law fund-raising efforts will soar under Karen’s leadership. MC Law reported an uptick in its enrollment of first-year students this fall. MC Law enrolls more than 400 students.
“I’m thrilled to be coming back to the MC Law family,” Flowers said. “I can’t wait to rejoin the team.”
Flowers succeeds Thorne Butler, who led advancement efforts at MC Law before accepting a position with the Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
A Jackson native, Karen served as president of the Jackson Symphony League and as a board member of the Junior League of Jackson. She’s been active with Mistletoe Marketplace among other organizations in metro Jackson. Flowers was named as one of Mississippi’s 50 Leading Business Women in 2014 by the “Mississippi Business Journal.”
At Jackson Prep, Flowers headed the private school’s alumni and development department along with serving on the institution’s leadership team.
In addition, she served as a member of the Class of 2014 of Leadership Greater Jackson.
Karen is married to Bob Flowers, the Eagle Ridge Golf Course superintendent at Hinds Community College in Raymond. The Clinton couple have two daughters, Mary, a junior at Mississippi State University, and Anna, a senior at Clinton High School.
