Betty Jane Land Martin was born in Ruston, LA on Dec. 8, 1929. She passed away on Sept. 15, 2023 in St Petersburg, FL.
Betty was a loving wife to W.T. (Ted) Martin of Magee, MS for 73 years. They met as students at Louisiana Tech and married in Ruston. Their life together took them to California, back to Louisiana, then up to Ohio where they lived for over 50 years. They moved to Magee in 2014 and then to St Petersburg, FL. in 2019, where Ted passed away in 2021.
Betty is remembered not only for being a warm and caring mother to her four children, but also for being kind and supportive to a host of family members and friends. She was a faithful volunteer and supporter of The American Heart Association. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed being surrounded by her family.
Betty is survived by her four children: Regina Carroll (Jim), Landis Braddock, Steve Martin (Karen), and Sandra Martin; her seven grandchildren; and her eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation and celebration of life will be held at Colonial Chapel in Magee on March 15, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:30.
