Benny Joe Pierce, 76, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017, at his residence. He was born on February 5, 1941, to the late Homer Pierce and Ida Mae (Mulligan) Pierce in Rankin County.
Benny was a lifelong Simpson County horse and cattle farmer. He has been a member of The American Quarter Horse Association for over 50 years and also a member of The Mississippi Cattleman’s Association.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Jean McLendon Pierce; two sons, Jeff Pierce (Kimberly),Chad Pierce (Janet); daughters, April Pierce Prince (Wallace), Sara Kennedy (Russ), Crystal Bufkin (Ben); brothers, Jimmy Pierce, Homer Pierce, Jr. ; fifteen grandchildren, Kaylin Walters (Brandon), Colt Pierce, Rivers Pierce, Brooklyn Pierce, Jett Pierce, Josh Pierce (Lauren), Jonathan Pierce, Corey Prince, Tyler Prince, Lawton Kennedy, Aubren Kennedy, Bryce Bufkin, Cassidy Ross, Mollie Bufkin and Caley Ross.
Visitation for friends will be Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall, MS, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Services are scheduled for Sunday, October 1, 2017, at 4:00 p.m. at Tutor Funeral Home with additional visitation from 2:00 pm. until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in Pinola Cemetery. Bro. Johnie May, Bro David Jager and Bro. Jay Wesbrooks will be officiating.
Pallbearers are Jeff Pierce, Chad Pierce, Wallace Prince, Russ Kennedy, Ben Rufkin, Chesley Abernathy, Mark Patrick, Dusty Busby. Honorary pallbearers are Josh Pierce, John Pierce, Tyler Prince, Corey Prince, Lawton Kennedy, Aubren Kennedy, Colt Pierce, Richard Abernathy, Jerry Wayne McLendon and David Tadlock.
Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Mendenhall.
