“At the Cross, at the cross, where I first saw the light…” is one of my favorite hymn lines. I think those words and say those words often…especially during the Easter season.

Friday, I received a call that people were walking up the highway carrying crosses! What in the world…I soon learned that members of Overflow Church were carrying “their” crosses on a march that lead the group on the frontage road and through town.

As I watched the passing, I could not help but think of the cross we all carry…sometimes, the cross may be the loss of a loved one, financial, loneliness , sadness,  stress, family, health…the list goes on and on…but all the sudden I realized the crosses that I think I bear are nothing compared to what Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior did for us. The cross He bore had every type sin known to man…every hurt…every heartache…Many times, I’ll think…I can’t bear this cross…I just can’t do it…when will the burdens ever become easy..I’m pitiful…my burdens are pale in comparison to what Jesus carried.

September: A Month to Remember, Speak Their Names, and Choose Hope

September 1, 2026

I am so blessed to know that Jesus Christ died for my sins that I might have eternal life. If this is something you do not know…I urge you to seek and you will find.

As a young girl, I thought if I loved Jesus enough or did “right” then I would not have problems….boy, was I wrong…but changing that way of thinking has really taken years…I guess we all look for our crown on earth…and thankfully the crown comes in Heaven.

“Because He lives, I can face tomorrow”…now, that is an everyday saying! God has blessed me. His arms are always wrapped around my body…and no matter how deep the hurt…I know because of Him…I can go forth.

Blessings to each of you during this Easter season. I hope you have family or someone you love to share Sunday…being alone is tough and I pray for the people who are alone.

I will spend Easter in Madison with Dickey, Lynda, Connor, Preston, and Hudson. I will miss Breck, Carolyn, Larkin and Haleigh…but they know I love them and am holding them tightly in my heart. Thank you Jesus for my extended family…and my wonderful friends.
I will miss Tommy Everett, deeply…but then I do everyday…May you find peace in your heart, my friends…and someone to love you…because He lives…we can do this (life).
