By James Davis
The Scriptural passage chosen for today is found in Galatians 5:19-21: “It is obvious what kind of life develops out of trying to get your own way all the time…cutthroat competition…the vicious habit of depersonalizing everyone into a rival…. If you use your freedom this way, you will not inherit God’s kingdom.” (MSG) This interpretation of those verses by the writer Eugene Peterson very clearly tells us that those who strive for vainglory and self-aggrandizement will not be able to enter Heaven. We are not to be self-centered as Christians. We are to be Christ-like. Helping others should be our mantra. If we find ourselves edging into such a dangerous area, we should immediately realize the need to stop, self-evaluate, align ourselves with God, and reset our compass. Jesus is our supreme example, not man. “Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.” Amen!
Let us show love, kindness, and joy as we go about our daily routine.
