Ardis Barr, 89, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017, at his residence. He was born and raised in Simpson County by his late parents, Guy Barr, Sr. and Ulmar (Bounds) Barr.
Ardis served in The United States Army during World War II.  He worked as a riverboat pilot and retired from Port Arthur Towing.
He is survived by his daughters; Jeanette Kennedy, Sandra Kennedy (Ricky), Debra Warren (George), Lynn Koestler; brothers, Don Barr (Vickie), Guy Barr, Jr. (Loura); sisters, Eddie Nichols (Herman), Polly Harvey (James Earl); ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Betty (Harvey) Barr; son, Kenny Barr; brothers, Joel Barr (Mary), Pat Barr (Sue); sister, Jean Hamblett (Ralph) and sister-in-law, Esther Barr.
 Visitation will be Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall, MS from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. in Tutor Chapel with interment following in Mendenhall City Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Mendenhall.
