Benny Blair, the new Animal Control Officer, has stepped into a position requiring a lot of work!  Who knew calls would come in almost every day and all day!

Benny is taking his job seriously.  “By the book and the law,” is what Benny says.

Last year, during the hard freeze, the police department was inundated with calls of dogs which were left out in the elements with no protection and no food or water.  Many dogs were tethered.

Benny plans to keep a close watch on the animals in Magee for any type of abuse.

All dogs and cats in the city require a rabies vaccination.   (I had no idea cats were in the group). The animals must have a visible tag showing the animal is vaccinated for rabies.

The City of Magee Animal Control officer can write tickets.  If state or city laws are violated, the officer is empowered to issue a citation/ticket.

Benny is working to improve the City dog pound.  An addition to the existing dog pound or relocation of a new pound is in the talking stage.

How can you help the dog pound?  Donate food.  Donate blankets.  Donate money.

Problems in Eastside:  Benny explained that the Eastside area has become a dumping ground for dogs!  These dogs are brought in from other areas and turned loose in Eastside.  If you live in this area, be aware of loose dogs and contact Benny at 601-503-3927 or contact the Magee PD.  Reports of these type dogs require extra precaution concerning small children and senior citizens.
