Angela Hancock Young, 51, of Madison, MS passed from her earthly home to her heavenly home onFriday, August 27, 2021 at Baptist Medical Center after a long battle with amyloidosis, a rare bone marrowdisorder.
Angela was born December 9, 1969 and grew up in Taylorsville, MS. She graduated from Taylorsville HighSchool in 1987 and from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1991. Angela loved life and had many different interests. She was a member of the tennis team and the flag corp in high school. In college shewas a Diamond Girl, in the Phi Mu sorority, and served on the USM Fashion Board. She worked forAssociated General Contractors Of Mississippi before starting a family and was involved in manycommunity organizations throughout her life: Junior League of Jackson, Mistletoe Marketplace, Christ United Methodist D Group Leadership, Co-Chair of Holiday Potpourri at First Presbyterian Day School,Chair of MRA’S Gardens Market, and many others. Angela also loved to travel with her husband and family all over the nation and world, but her favorite activity was cheering on her two beloved children in all of theirvaried activities.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Willie Oree Hancock, Sr. and Charlene AinsworthHancock; D.L. Massengale and Joyce Massengale; and by her brother Adam Jeffrey Hancock.
Angela is survived by her parents, Willie Oree (Snooky) Hancock, Jr. and Gwen Massengale Hancock; her loving husband of 26 years, Jason Joel Young; her son Breckon Joel Young, a senior at Mississippi State University; and her daughter Ava Blaire Young, a ninth-grade student at Madison-RidgelandAcademy; as well as many extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Taylorsville, MS. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Cemetery inTaylorsville. Rev. Jason Smith will officiate.
