Former state Representative Andy Gipson was sworn in at the 8th Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce.
Andy is an attorney, farmer, and Baptist preacher who lives in Braxton. He has been in the state House of Representatives since 2008. He is an advocate of gun rights and an opponent of abortion.
Gipson was sworn in by Supreme Court Justice William L. Waller, Jr. before family and friends.
Gipson succeeds Cindy Hyde-Smith who has been appointed to fulfill Senator Thad Cochran’s position. Andy will serve the remainder of Hyde-Smith’s term which ends in January 2020.
