After posting the article from Pay Raise for Mississippi Teachers FB post, I received the following information from Representative Andy Gipson.

More Democrat Hogwash. The Democrats in Jackson are up to their old tricks, spreading lies and half-truths about Republicans like me who voted for HB 957 Education Funding Reform. They’ve even started a fake FB Page called “Pay Raise for Mississippi Teachers” to give them a front for their lies. Yes, of course I voted against every single one of the Democrats’ bogus Showboat Amendments because all they were trying to do was to kill HB 957. Under HB 957 both our local school districts get more funding and more local control. Including the opportunity to use the extra funding to raise teacher pay!
The rest of the story is I did vote for the REAL teacher pay raise just a few years ago.
Bottom line, don’t believe the Democrat Hogwash. Lies like I voted to “underfund education.” The Democrats are just as bad in Jackson as they are in D.C. They would rather kill a good bill than let Republicans pass good legislation that benefits everyone including students and teachers. Just look at the lies the Democrats are spreading about the federal government shutdown. They voted to shut down the government, then blamed Republicans.
Bring it on, liberals. I’m ready for you.
By the way, here are the facts on what HB 957 means for our local districts.
