Frances at the library has a copy of the history of Magee written by Mrs. Katherine McCarley. (The books is awesome.). It’s time we learn about our heritage.
Magee will cover pre-1824-1874 which will include the Choctaw heritage, early history, and the Sanatorium.
Gloria Lucas, Kara Lucas, and myself are working on a display case at City Hall to showcase artifacts from our city. (We are not worried about the time period). Our first item is Mrs. Theda Berry’s sesquicentennial dress and robe. Theda was chosen the Sesquicentennial Queen in 1974. If you have an item you would like displayed, call Kara at City Hall (601-849-3344.
